i can’t stop thinking about a tweet i saw recently:

it’s the 2nd point that got to me:

‘most Americans just go to work, watch Netflix & die.’

ouch.

you probably wouldn’t be surprised to hear that there were a lot of angry replies to this tweet.

but let’s just look at the facts here:

all of those stats suck.

but in a weird way, it’s also the best news i could ever give you — it shows that the bar is lower than you think:

that’s why i laugh when people talk about their ‘million dollar ideas’ or tell stories about how they ‘almost’ did something.

as the old saying goes, ideas are cheap.

‘almost’ is just a nice way of saying ‘did nothing.’

Derek Sivers summed it up nicely:

‘when most people see modern art, they think, ‘i could do that!’
but they didn’t.
that is the difference between consumer & creator.’

you don’t need to beat the ‘competition.’

there is none! (other than your own fear of failure.)

so don’t just go to work, watch Netflix, & die.

do something today that makes tomorrow better.

the bar is lower than you think.

some things i learned

  1. a tough pill to swallow

    do something about it
  2. avoid driving after a new album drops… seriously!
‘the release of a major new music album is associated with a 15% increase in fatal car crashes.’ ~ Steve Stewart-Williams [link]

an increase in distracted driving is the suspected cause
  3. the same guy created aspirin & heroin just 11 days apart
in August 1897, a German chemist named Felix Hoffmann created both drugs independently of one another. must’ve been a crazy weekend.

cool stuff i found

  1. turn any document into an audiobook
if you upload any PDF, EPUB, plain text, Word document, or URL into paper2audio.com, it generates an audio file that you can play on your computer or phone. 56h of audio per week is free, no card required!

    not sponsored, as always
  2. volume negates luck
‘if people knew how hard i had to work to gain my mastery, it would not seem so wonderful at all.’ ~ Michelangelo

me: 41 videos on YT, 2 hits (4.8%)
  3. a beautiful sunset in Kazakhstan
for the few of you reading this from Kazakhstan — one day i’ll come & visit!

go make yourself proud this week.

~ liam (:

PS - seriously, if you could check out 0to1.club & email me any feedback at all — could be about the website, the offer, or anything — it would help me out a ton. the more i know, the more i can make it better for you.
