i’m FUCKED.
maybe that’s a bit dramatic — i just feel physically & mentally exhausted right now.
it could be the fact that i worked in the sun all day yesterday.
or it could be the 40km bike ride i went on a couple days before that.
or the fact that i haven’t made the time to just sit with my thoughts, distraction free.
& i probably haven’t eaten enough, either.
idk.
maybe it’s just the drugs.
(that’s a joke)
either way, i didn’t really feel up for writing this today.
but i still wanted to try.
& as you might expect, when i was trying to write this newsletter earlier, nothing was really working, & i was getting frustrated.
so i took a break & decided to check my comments on YouTube.
here’s the first one i saw:
for some reason, this really struck a chord with me, & i think a lot of people who read this newsletter can relate.
so here’s the best thing i can write for you today, thanks to @rflx_ericcs945:
haha thank you for this comment, i’m glad these videos help (:
i get exactly what you’re saying, i was in that position for years man
i wish there was 1 easy answer i could give you to solve all your problems, but the reality is, it takes a complete mental reframe that took me up until recently to internalize
i’ll try to put it into words:
you don’t have to be perfect, you just have to show up. & you have to show up whether you’re in the mood to or not. there’s never gonna be a ‘right time’ to start.
& another hard truth:
if you’re relying on motivation, it means you don’t want it badly enough. you might think you do, but you don’t.
i used to struggle to get out of bed if i didn’t have to for work/school. i thought i cared about my dreams then, but i didn’t. the only thing that got me to change was when the pain of not starting got worse than the pain of not having.
now, i’m obsessed with ‘doing the work,’ & that consumes every part of my life.
i don’t go more than 5 minutes in my day without thinking of the work i do, & every second of my free time is dedicated to it now in some way. if you think you ‘want it’ but you’re not doing anything, you simply don’t want it enough.
there are no shortcuts.
the thing is, if you’re genuinely happy with your life rn, why should you change anything? life is good enough, so of course you won’t have the motivation or discipline to change anything about it.
but if you’re sitting there every day, miserable, just waiting on your ‘potential’ to finally turn into action, you just have to be honest with yourself about how badly you really want that to happen.
2 quotes come to mind:
“ambition without action creates anxiety”
&
“stop complaining about results you didn’t get from work you didn’t do.”
long story short, either start, or stop being sad about it.
i’m rooting for you, & just the fact that you’re thinking about this stuff so often is probably one of the best predictors that you’ll be successful in the longrun
hope that helps man (:
just start right now. do anything that brings you 1 step closer.
one last quote:
“give yourself proof.”
so yeah, there’s me accidentally pouring my heart & soul into a comment & shamelessly recycling it in my newsletter.
i really do hope it helps though (:
some things i learned
your printer puts secret messages on everything you print
it does this using a practice known as steganography, which is basically when secret information is hidden in regular files. it’s almost certainly happening with every screenshot you take, too. here’s an example of what your printer does to encode data like the date, time, & device your paper was printed from:stats about cheating in relationships, from
researchers in China have invented a ‘bone glue’ that can repair broken bones in 3 minutes (!!!)
sounds like clickbait, but all signs point to this being legit. it was inspired by the ‘bio-cement’ that oysters produce to attach themselves to stuff underwater. this ‘bone glue’ is biodegradable, minimally-invasive, fast-healing, & adds nearly instant rigidity to the bone. it seems too good to be true, but the results so far are very, very promising.
cool stuff i found
this creepy AI software that tells you exactly where any picture was taken
it’s a paid software & i don’t think everybody has access to it (yet), but it definitely isn’t something i feel good about. also, if this is consumer-grade stuff, just imagine what your government has access to.a great video: ‘40 harsh truths i wish i knew in my 20s’
idk anything about this guy, but i don’t think he missed once in this video. definitely worth watching!the first documented ragebait
if you haven’t watched any AliG before, you definitely should. Sacha Baron Cohen might’ve legitimately been the first guy to ragebait people professionally.
(for the old farts reading this: ragebait = saying stuff to intentionally get an angry reaction out of somebody)
that’s all i’ve got for you today!
as always, thank you for tuning in & showing support.
i have so many big things in the works for this newsletter & my YouTube channel in the very near future.
here’s a hint at what i’m most excited for:
no further explanation, lol.
go make yourself proud this week!
